Decades ago, amid my wonderment as an odd five-year-old beginning 1st-Grade a year earlier than most, I told my (after-school chauffeur) Mom about my first-ever experience of writing Words (Not just coloring with preschool Crayons)! After exuding over my own new, yellow, No.2 Pencil, I quoted my teacher, Ms. Heffington’s, words, “Take good care of your pencil now. Before long, You will be writing Curses!”
“What are curses, Mom?” I asked — to which my mother fell silent (intent on driving us safely home, I guessed). Later, when again I asked Mom about curses, I heard tension in her voice: ”Talk to your father about such things — sometime after he gets home, but before dinner.”
Yikes! Whatever curses were, they could ruffle my Mom bigtime! When I inquired of Dad, he replied, “Why do you ask, Son?” (true to his mentor-like “answer-with-a-question” style). “My teacher talked to me about writing curses on paper with my No. 2 Pencil — maybe soon!”
For what seemed like Forever, Dad gazed out the window with a consummate calmness. After prolonged thought, his face lit up with a fresh notion for both of us: “Maybe your teacher spoke the word “Cursive – not curses.” Then Dad offered this edification: ”Cursive is when you let each letter in a word you write flow into the next letter of that word. When you do, your pencil won’t lift off the paper until after you’ve finished that entire word, before your hand writes the next one.”
Years later, I’ve (slowly but surely) moved away from hand-printing my every note, memo, card and letter. (Keyboarding? That’s another matter!) By now, I’m fully aware that Cursive writing is not a curse! Actually, it has become a therapeutic mental and dexterity exercise literally at hand!
More to the point — Like you, I’ve seen how even miniscule mishearings, let alone misinterpretations, can indeed mislead the Human Heart, despite its long-held yearning to live Life in the Truth of Love.
All the while, at the core Heart of All, I regard Attunement service as sacrosanct — utterly distinct from anything that is not of Blessing and Upliftment — spiritually, mentally, and/or emotionally.
To quote a wise friend, Anthony Palombo, D.C.: “The purpose of spiritual practices — such as Attunement, Sound Healing, meditation, Tapping (EFT), deep breathing, and other such modalities — is to create a peaceful, harmonious atmosphere in one’s heart, mind, and energy field. Then, one can trust the radiation of Love through one’s spiritual expression realm to act as a shield from incoming erratic and disturbing energies. It starts with unconditional love and acceptance of oneself, then others – amid all external conditions, just as they are.”
In our modern-day world, with prevalent sources of both “mass destruction” (physically) and “mass distraction” (mentally and feeling-wise), it is solely one’s spiritual expression that can and will attune with the One Source that endlessly creates an expanding Universe of New Worlds! Such a Source is powerful enough to flow meticulously, yet sensitively, in Its enfolding encompassment of our World here!
Thus, the flow of Life Energy right where we are is our saving grace, and therein we each have a unique part to play. So, How does one rightly “play”? Well, it’s more straightforward (with practice) than might be imagined. For what allows Life Energy to flow is a consistent attentiveness to one’s own Source-Attuned Spiritual Expression.
That’s what pens the Living Word on the paper of pure-hearted everyday living – by way of Attunement currents radiating through the consciousness of Creator-Beings in human form on Earth. ‘They’ are US: You and Me in Oneness of Spirit Here & Now!
Behold, the Living Word has no end amid this Eternal Present Moment. Nor Do We!
Quoting a prime truism from the recent IAAP post by John Gray, “Creator-Beings are Forever-Friends. Realizing our own spiritual identity, we truly recognize one another!”
Hence, the hearts and minds of attuned men and women, coming into unified flow, can and will provide the sustaining source of mass compassion and comprehension!

Your story is such a charming family story! Your most vital school tool The #2 pencil.
This word was my inner mantra for many years serving as a Spanish and ESL language teacher to teenagers, but I used “lapiz.” This object brought me in line with the Spirit of agreement with my students eventually because I had to provide this tool to them over the years, and through the Spirit of gifting this object released a vibrational tone of agreement between us that allowed us all to get the job at hand completed. I loved the way you describe the specialness of cursive writing. It is a lovely experience when one is writing, letting a continual flow of spirit pulse through your hand and fingers, and onto the page.
Your mention of ‘now’ and the ‘Eternal Present Moment’ is, to me, a perfect metaphor for seeing the ‘nows’ being all joined up, cursively. The gentle flow of Spirit continually moving, and all the while, ‘now.’
