Sitting here at our kitchen window eating breakfast, I am viewing a wonder. Two bird feeders hang from a wire, now being visited and occupied by an assortment of birds of all different shapes, sizes, species and COLORS that is extraordinary! And there is a chorus of song! I think to myself: who created these lovely creatures of flight? Whoever it was has a tremendous imagination, love for color and a mission to bring Joy to this world.
Of course, the answer is obvious. The hand of the Creator and His/ Her love for this world – animal, plant, mineral and human beings – has bestowed such grace. Being a Creator being and lover of Life, I am, as well, responsible for this gorgeous and sublime garden. I in Thee and Thou in me.
As I sit here now, I feel such privilege to be on this planet at this time. A sense of Joy circulates in my heart space. I am aware that it is integrated into what I feel is a ground swell of the spirit of Love, indomitably moving on this planet and in the hearts of many. It is flowing into and around many places that you’ll never hear mentioned in the news and through gatherings of friends throughout this world. It has something of a quiet and pervasive sense about it. It’s much like the bird song, harmonious, beautiful and so varied…although the bird song can be quite raucous at times!
There is currently a lot of activity on our planet, much of it chaotic and loud in nature. One might wonder that it could drown out this deeper, quieter swell of Love’s Way. As we know, this will never happen. Have you ever tried to make a bird stop singing? A sentence from Martin Cecil’s poem, Thus It Is: “Unconquerable Life Prevails” sums it up well.
Is this not the time to sing one’s Unique Song into life? Let Joy radiate without concern for results.

Andrew –
As always, your words resonate, reminding me of the simple joys of Being, and how in Being our authentic selves are just what the world requires. Each of us a flame, all of us a fire, each and all required to surround and uphold our Mother Earth, rejoicing in the Divine Design unfolding. Thank you for your words, and your Spirit.
I love the thought of singing one’s unique song into life. How beautiful. How joyous.
I have carried a quote in my head for much of my life. I believe it is from Maya Angelou’s early
book, I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings. “A bird does not sing because it has an answer;
it sings because it has a song.” (Perhaps we have both.)
I too hear that birdsong every precious morning, just outside my door. One definition of
living in attunement might be ” sharing one’s song with the world consistently and joyfully.”
Like the birds. Like the angels that we are. “The morning stars sing together” and the children
of God shout with joy.
Thank you, Andrew!
Thank you Andrew for your thoughts,
It is as if we have been invited to sit beside and accompany you in being a silent and awe-filled chorus!
In England this Springtime we have been blessed with plenty of sunny days which has presented us with the opportunity to stand at the mid-point, being showered with the Life Essence flowing through us and around us, and the natural world, on the other hand, decked out in all her finery, almost saying: ‘See how beautiful I am when you take the time to truly see me, and listen to me!’
And so, with a spirit of gratitude to let these returning breathings of life rise up to our Creator in this continual process of ascension. What amazing days we’re in!
I realized, after reading Andrew’s piece, that I had recently come upon a poem written centuries ago that speaks to the same thing. Here it is:
Mechthild of Magdeburg
(1207 – 1297)
Effortlessly,
Love flows from God into man,
Like a bird
Who rivers the air
Without moving her wings.
Thus we move in His world
One in body and soul,
Though outwardly separate in form.
As the Source strikes the note,
Humanity sings —
The Holy Spirit is our harpist,
And all strings
Which are touched in Love
Must sound.
Andrew, i enjoyed your thoughts about birds. I, too, have been enjoying the birds around my home. And that ” chaotic and loud” noise is probably just human grackles, and like the birds, we hope they eventually will go elsewhere. 😉
Indeed! Let joy ring out through the Heart of Humanity! Thank you for your words.
