I’ve experienced it before, but today when sharing an Attunement with a friend, I felt like I was playing a musical instrument. When you think of it, the human body is a phenomenally intricate instrument at many levels. It can generate an energy field, it can re-generate organs, glands and tissues of all kinds. It can house Being and express a design of living forms through thoughts, words, and actions.
The Sufi poet, Rumi, speaks of the reed flute with its 9 holes as a model of human consciousness. When played by the Friend, (as he refers to the One) it brings Knowledge. He contrasts it to the knowledge we have settled for in our culture that “has lost compassion and grown disgusted with itself. It has forgotten about silence and emptiness.” Today, in this silent place with my friend, this is what I experienced in our Attunement.
I pray at the beginning to include that which is most High in me and thank that One for their guidance and perception. Then, I wait, listen and seek to stay in the here and now, relaxing any agendas or thoughts that wish to lay claim to a Silence that is emerging. I hear a music or tone that is already playing in this body form, and it is complete, perfect, and original. “It” conveys, through my perception, which note to play first and in which part of the anatomy. The music guides, because there is an inherent treatment plan already established for this particular Attunement session with this particular individual. There is a beautiful weaving pattern of notes (organs, glands, tissues) that emerges to make the greatest possible space and tensionless path for Spirit. As the instrument is plucked in this way a beautiful Balance unfolds and the person feels it and I feel it. The breathing deepens and the Silence gets richer, and there is a hush. “It is so quiet”, I hear my self saying. I hold and relax.
Then it changes, the session is complete for this time, Blessing has been extended to our physical bodies. I am aware that it doesn’t stop there. It reaches out to places beyond, I’m sure. I don’t know where those are, and am glad that I don’t need to. I pray again and say Thank You to the One.

Hi Andrew. I am thrilled to read this perception of yours. Many years ago I was sharing an attunement with my aunt in her home. Her husband, my uncle, was sitting several feet away. He had recently gone blind from glaucoma, so I was surprised to hear him say,”It’s like a cello.” I have never forgotten that quiet remark, spoken so matter-of-factly. I cherish the memory to this day. Much love and appreciation for all you have offered and continue to offer to this day.

You remind me of my early years of discovering the use of sound as a carrier wave for spirit. Thank you for your articulate expression describing in magical detail the Attunement Process. Thank you for sharing this with us Andrew. I have been having a similar experience with setting an intention/prayerful space prior to and during the sharing of an attunement. The body and all its parts vibrate and sound as an instrument. After participating in a healing sounds intensive this summer, I became aware of what the sound is while balancing the cervicals in particular. I could always feel the vibration and completion in balance, yet when I used the C and G tuning forks I can now hear what the vibration is.
I have only respect and honoring for this process of Attunement. Thank you again.
