The Simple Things

◄ by Andrew Shier – Hancock, NH ►

My friend, Rich, who is currently participating in the Advanced Attunement class, recently spoke about his experience of raking leaves over a series of days. In contrast to it being arduous and obligatory, it was effortless, and time did not seem to exist. He was in a Flow, and the energy moving through the body was almost inexhaustible. It took on the character of meditation in motion.

I too know this experience as I move about my day whether it be with our horses, with our land, with clients, or with my internal space of Silence. I have begun to wonder of late if, in fact, this is all there is. We live in a society where it seems important to make our mark on the world, accomplish something great and recognizable by others, or make lots of money. What if we were simply to live from a place of Love in our hearts, embracing “what is” in each moment? Perhaps, in truth, we cannot do otherwise, because this is how we are designed as divine beings. To think otherwise keeps us busily sleepwalking through our days.

Attunement has awakened us from this slumber, and we greet a world that has needs of various kinds; like raking leaves, or being a lawyer, a plumber, a fisherman, a corporate executive, a doctor, a janitor, or one who works with Parkinson’s disease in their body, or with patterns of addiction. Through the many roles and opportunities, the presence of Love embraces things just as they are. To be fully in this world the way it is without a thought of changing it to “be better” is a great joy.

  1. Awhile ago, I was sorely aware that my ‘substance’ had grown thin. It wasn’t until I accidentally lit the kitchen trash with unknown embers and ‘smoked’ the vacuum that I finally asked for assistance. I also sat down to share a self attunement and at each of the endocrine glands I said aloud these four phrases:

    Come into balance
    Clear the mechanism
Provide a safe place for the heart
Let life fill the space of grief

I could feel myself coming back to me in peace and with more vigor almost immediately. Karen Harte was on my line as well and I know that helped. It is so easy to continue on, thinking, “I’ve got this”, then your kitchen trash is smoking and the vacuum’s gone the way of the dinosaurs. This reminds me to be in the present moment, ask for help when I need it and stop thinking I can do it all by myself. Attunement can provide that connective thread that keeps me and my world steady and peaceful.

These are some thoughts that came to me when I reread your piece, Andrew. As always, I so appreciate your outlook and keen perception.
Blessings and see you soon, Athena

  2. Hi Andrew! Thank you for that lovely article. It was what I needed to read this morning and it has fed me. Have a blessed day. 🙂

  3. I just read this, and have to reply with appreciation for the simplicity of your short piece, which in itself emphasizes the beauty and simplicity of living and being in the timeless flow of Eternity. What wondrous Life is at hand within the heaven of Eternity and the eternity of Heaven. “One day with the Lord is as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day.” Attunement with discordant patterns, within or without, brings a feeling of having been ejected from the Garden of Eternity. Attunement with the Grand Design, with the peace, the perfection and the orderly flow of the current of Life, brings a vivid feeling of the magic of the eternal moment. Great Joy! Gratitude.
