Selfless Service

◄ by Karen Knox – Kansas  City►

I believe service is one of the primary reasons we take birth if not the most important reason.  In offering selfless service I receive inner awareness and gratitude.  Selfless service is without attachment to the fruits of my efforts, service is worship of divinity, service is without desire for personal gain, an offering without personal motive, an offering for the highest purpose which I cannot fully understand, service is recognition of the divinity in others, service is with the awareness there is nothing, no one who is not God, and service is an offering of supreme love.

Although I am making the effort it seems like I am the one who is being blessed, expanded, and opened.  In service I am softened, learn to accept, love unconditionally, bless, can respond from the highest, access greater truths, recognize grace, feel grounded in the value of my life, and understand why I live.  Is service so vital because it is a reflection of God serving humanity?  In service spiritual principles are put into action.  It is nice to talk about love and acceptance, but can I actually practice that?  Service gives me the opportunity, and therefore service, at times can be purifying.

Service can bring up my limitations and fears.  It is evidence of the quote that love brings up everything unlike itself.  In doing so, my negativities are exposed to the light of love and are transformed.  Then service becomes a source of healing.  Attunement is a service, the light of love.  I benefit from receiving attunement, and grateful I am able to share attunement with others.  It furthers my pursuit to find ways to offer service to humanity.

  1. Karen – I agree! Thanks for a great articulation. I have found when I volunteer – my heart sings. It reminds me that our primary “need” to serve is a reflection of – as it is above, so be it below.

  2. Thank you, Karen, for putting your thoughts on service into words to share. I connected to the comment on service sharing my highest good. May I truly live that way, even 1 hour a day!
