Lessons In Trust

by Louise Broomberg
I recently had the pleasure of visiting Ghana in West Africa where I had two adventure-filled weeks. There were many dimensions to the trip, but there is one experience that I would particularly like to share with you. Larry Pearlman and I met with a group of people in Accra who were interested in sharing in a time of attunement. There were nine of us altogether, some of whom had had previous attunement training through the Emissary program many years ago, and others for whom this was a new experience. It is always a wonder to see how attunement transcends language, culture and barriers of all kinds, and reaches straight to the heart.

We began the session with a time of heart-space. Two stories of faith and divine direction were related that I found quite profound. One of the men in the group, Emmanuel, had a daughter six years ago who was born with a large growth on her backside about the size of her head (he had a photo to show us). She looked irreparably deformed and the doctors suggested that she be allowed to die. His wife was also ready to let her go, but Emmanuel felt so strongly that there was another way that he would not allow it. He described how he felt a divine presence that filled him with light and peace and inspired him to look beyond the immediate circumstance and appearance. He could only see his baby daughter as perfect and whole and steadfastly held on to that vision. One day, he told us, there was a pool of water around the baby’s bed, and the growth had mysteriously dissolved. The excess skin was removed and, in due course, the buttocks separated and all the appropriate body parts came into place. Today she is a happy, healthy, beautiful little girl living a normal life. Her name is Hope.

An equally touching story was related by a woman, Nancy, who also had a daughter a few years back. In her infancy she developed a terminal condition and had a year at most to live. Nancy described her feelings of deep depression, despair and anguish, until one day she had a vision of a hooded creature who told her he was Death. He asked her why she was afraid of him. “I am not the enemy,” he said (paraphrased). “I am part of life. Fear is the enemy. Embrace life now.” That encounter totally shifted something in Nancy and she did, indeed, choose to embrace life and make each moment count. She described how the rest of the time with her daughter was filled with love, joy, thankfulness and pleasure. The little girl did eventually die, and when she did, the cycle was full and complete, with no regret or remorse, and Nancy could let go and move on more easily. At the time she was happily pregnant and celebrating the continuity of life. Although the outcomes were different, both stories demonstrate a victorious spirit and trust in a design and presence beyond the immediate circumstance.

Vision

by Claire Josephs Houston
I read the monthly Science of Mind magazine, and enjoy the column called, “The Way It Works.” Readers send in questions about life, or about the teachings of Ernest Holmes, founder of Science of Mind, and Jesse Jennings writes his response from the SOM perspective. Recently, someone asked, “I want to start a nonprofit organization, but they always seem to struggle. Is the struggle because they call themselves NONprofit?” He wrote a thoughtful response which included: “On the effect side, there are 1.6 million nonprofit organizations in the US whose general purpose is to address societal needs that are not being met by profit-making corporations or government entities, or to pick up the slack... They are called nonprofit because they do not distribute dividends to stockholders, but recapitalize all their receipts into providing services.... the term nonprofit is not at all meant to be a synonym for ‘unsuccessful.’

“On the cause side, which is where we really do our spiritual work, an organization doesn’t set out to pile up funds, but to meet a need, and beyond that to envision the world as if that need were already being met. An organization that helps children would want to have a picture in mind of what a helped child looks like, as well as a willingness to have these and all future children be strong, well, and happy, even if that means the organization is no longer needed. One that rescues animals must have a vision of what a world looks like where no animals need to be rescued, and so forth, else it’s working at cross purposes to what it says it intends. This envisioning is the causal work; it brings openness to being led in the most creative, effective ways to best serve.”

Upon receiving the First issue of the 2009 Unified Field, I enjoyed the new mast head and colors, and having the Statement of Purpose on the cover. In reading the purpose statement, I began to wonder. Am I doing the causal spiritual work Jesse Jennings articulated? Do I practice envisioning the world as if the Attunement need were already being met? Or do I inadvertently hold and maintain patterns of nonalignment through attention to them?

I would like practice, and training, in carrying mental pictures of what a world of Attuned people looks like. It would be enlivening to spend time developing the vision of what a world looks like that no longer needs Attunement Practitioners, or Attunement classes, because every one in the world is living in attunement with Life; or a world where attunement is so natural a practice that every family or community has its attunement server integrated. This kind of mental entraining would be powerful to do together in groupings of radiantly-focused beings. I can see it being like creating a group mandala, but instead of using bodies, we would use words to build an ideal vision of what the world will be like with each participant, or visioner, adding his/her unique piece of the visual structure.

This envisioning of a restored world is the causal work, the spiritual work of the Attunement Practitioner.

Call To Prayer

by Chris Jorgensen

In the recently completed Practitioner's Course in Kansas City, we had a discussion on the subject of prayer and its importance in daily life. Prayer is a vast subject and uniquely individual, sacred and intimate to each person. Prayer is defined in many ways and can have a different meaning within various cultures. It can be a means of communication with the Creator - for some it is forgiveness (Christianity), for some it is obedience (Islam) and for others it is a way to develop compassion for all living beings (Buddhism). Many have asked me about my experience of prayer. Here is a brief description of what I do each morning.

I offer four levels of prayer each day before beginning my Attunement radiation. I don't follow any particular routine or use a certain set of words. Each day is unique. Many times after giving conscious expression in prayer, I sit quietly in love and communion until I internally sense the urge to go forward into the day.

Level I - Identity in the human form
I hold the life-pattern of Chris between my hands as I open the Attunement process. Daily prayer at this level is worship that begins through the conscious expression of love, thanksgiving, and the deep yearning for union with my Being, my Beloved, my Father, which created this body, mind, spiritual expression and feeling realm. There is no other purpose than to be in union. My vessel is filled with a joyful exuberance for the experience of life today - to see, smell, hear, taste, and touch creation. The mind is humbled by the ability to think and to speak words of rejoicing. The feelings sense and intuit the divine presence of Me such that the sacred vessel is left without any form of utterance as the heart is overfilled with gladness. The life-pattern is balanced, smooth, vibrant and engaged.

"Truly I tell you, if you have faith the size of a mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, 'Move from here to there,' and it will move; and nothing will be impossible for you."

Jesus, Matthew 17-20

"A monk who is skilled in concentration can cut the Himalayas in two."

Buddha, Anguttara Nikaya 6.24

Level II - Identity in Being
I am the Creator. I observe the body, mind, spiritual expression and feeling natures. I bless with life and enfold with love, the projection of Myself in the world of time and space. Let there be assurance of my Presence in feeling and spiritual expression. Let the realization of my Light guide the words and thoughts articulated in mind. Let the physical body be renewed and empowered by the wonder of my Life.

"The revelation of Myself is holy. Mine is the glory to be reflected by the world which I create."

Level III - Identity in the Archangelic Body
I express my abiding and eternal radiance in union with and in acknowledgment of the focus of Love in the sacred project called Earth. Love is All; All is Love. Joy, Awe, and Glory is revealed by our collective Body of Being, the Archangelic Body, where an unbreakable oneness holds together the unending lines of creation in this celestial home amongst the stars. May the living radiance and purpose of this glorious Body of Being fill every atom in every corner of the planetary house.

I AM the ocean. I AM the air. I AM the earth. I AM the fire. Let no human institutions, no forms of human selfgovernance, no edifices of human worship remain. I AM.

Level IV - Identity in THE ONE
Let the Light of the Archangelic Body brightly shine the eternal union of Being into the heaven of the solar system, that the sun and moon, and each planetary body of our greater solar home may be blessed with Our Radiation. Great CREATOR OF ALL, The ALMIGHTY, The EXALTER, The ALL THAT IS, we acknowledge the pulses of THY Radiation and Light as it unfolds through the Universe.

"And when he had opened the seventh seal, there was silence in heaven about the space of half an hour" Revelation 8:1

Although the Body of Being is vast, we know something of its intimacy with our closer, conscious friends on Earth. Let us be together in prayer and Attunement.
